Always had lovely staff experience here. The pricing however is a bit finicky. The rugs were in baskets priced at $49 however wre indeed over $100. Most of the plant and decoration isles had nooooo prices in site and nowhere to check the prices! It was a bit annoying. However, everytime I have come it's been easy to find what I needed and nothing has been out of stock.
Great store, plenty of parking, convenient easy access, loads of stock, fabulous prices, great ranges, just a bit understaffed for boxing day sales (only 2 registers)
Although Spotlight is in a prime location and has a wide range of things, there are places within it that can be improved.
Location: Good location on a prime piece of real estate, not far from Stocklands Rockhampton (AKA Rockhampton Shopping Fair) and within walking distance if you have the fitness.
Parking: There is a reasonable amount of parking but it's not built for big cars or 4x4 as a lot of people have them now. Disability parking is available and right at the door.
Access into Spotlight: This can be a bit congested at times with a smaller access and exit doorway that can be a bit of a dance at times with people going both ways and not being able to see people coming out until they do. It's also a bit small for people who have wheelchairs, walkers etc to get in as there are baskets and other things that are in the way as obstacles. These can be seen as hazards.
Isles: I understand that Spotlight get stock in and it needs to be displayed, but making isles narrow and leaving stock around prevents people like my Mother who has a walker getting through and it presents as a tripping hazard, is not good and is not good sales practice.
Signage and layout: Both could be improved upon with a map at the entrance showing where different sections are in the store and what is in them potentially. Even a list at the end of say every second Isle like the supermarkets and other stores have, that lists products with the Isle number.
Cleanliness and tidiness: Spotlight have improved over the years regarding this but they still have a decent way to go. Most parts of the store were untidy and although customers have been in, it looked like very little is done to tidy up. Even having excess stock makes it look untidy and hard to walk through plus find things.
Price: The price of some things is pretty good. When displaying reduced prices like the 30% off, please say if it is off the full price or the marked price as people in general don't like to have to walk over and ask especially when mobility is limited and time.
Service: The young man who served us was lovely and very good to talk to. He checked the prices where things didn't have prices and he had a conversation with us, that is not normal for young people to do nowadays. Thank you.
Will I be back: Most likely as there no other choice left. If I had a choice between Lyncraft and Spotlight, I would go to Lyncraft as it is not overwhelming and cluttered with stock. It is better layed out and have wider isles. I also like Lyncraft's loyalty membership better and their stores are clean and tidy most of the time.
All the craft supplies in one place keep the crafty one happy
Easy parking friendly and helpful staff.
Air con has been broken all summer! Really doesn’t make for a pleasant shopping experience. I really feel for the staff stuck in there all day!
Good for near any thing you could want to do.with materials and bits and bobs from crafts to tailoring curtains or table cloths bedding and much much more
The wife loves this place but should be closer to Bunnings as that is her second favourite place and having them both together would make her day
Went there to buy some home goods and escape the heat. My wife and I found it claustrophobic and warm.
